Project description: 

LOGISMED is an initiative launched by the EIB to support the logistics sector competitiveness development of MEDA countries. After a preliminary diagnosis and recommendations phase, supported by studies to identify opportunities and needs of these countries and funded by the EC (FEMIP) LOGISMED is now in a phase of implementation. This LOGISMED implementation phase is established through the FEMIP trust fund on the basis of a contribution of the Fund for the transition in the Middle East and North Africa.

Service description: 
  • The presence in each beneficiary country, of a reinforced national logistics association, to provide training in logistics in relation to the needs of the sector in a sustainable manner and become the partner of the private sector and public administration in the training area, and allowing the development of logistics;
  • Increase awareness of private and public sector about the importance of logistics management for the development and competitiveness of the beneficiaries countries and in particular highlight the role of training for the overall improvement of the logistics sector;
  • Increase the quality of higher education and vocational training (TVET) programs in the field of logistics, through BA programs standardisation;
  • Training of professionals in logistics of reference in each beneficiary country, through ELA certification and the creation of a trainers group who will provide professionals and logistics operators the ability to develop and train their staff; and
  • The creation of group of employees at the operational level, who is properly trained to work in modern logistics platforms.
Objectives: 

The general objective is to contribute to enhance the competitiveness and development of the logistics sector in the South Mediterranean countries through support to training in logistics, parallel to the implementation of a logistic platform network.

The specific objective is to strengthen the logistics training in all professional sub-sector of the logistics, involving regulatory administrations of the sector and by offering a qualitative and sustainable training to the professionals from public and private sector.
