For an upcoming project opportunity in Mozambique we are looking for a suitable Team Leader with experience in EU-funded water infrastructure projects.
Task description: 

The Team Leader will be mainly responsible for ensuring high quality performance of the studies, high quality of the outputs and deliverables and the timely implementation of sub-projects in their respective fields. He/She should have not only excellent professional expertise, but also very good interpersonal skills required to liaise, communicate and coordinate projects in a complex environment, as well as a record of successful project experience.

The Team Leader will be the first point of contact for all assignments and the project team and will interface with the Contracting Authority, the EU Delegations and the Promoter and Executing Agencies.

The investment amount for each infrastructure project that is presented as a specific professional experience should be at least EUR 15 million.


Qualification & Skills

  • Academic degree in engineering or in a discipline relevant to the project scope, or equivalent;
  • Proficiency in oral & written English; Working knowledge of Portuguese is considered an advantage.

General Professional Experience

  • Minimum 10 years managerial experience in managing multi-disciplinary teams of senior professionals from different cultural areas, in developing countries, preferably in Sub-Saharan Africa;
  • Excptional interpersonal skills and a record of successful project experience with multi-sector teams;
  • Excellent drafting skills and be a good communicator and a facilitator of contacts among different stakeholders.

Specific Professional Experience

  • Involvement as TL in an implementation support mission to a large infrastructure project (above EUR 50 million investment cost) in the past 10 years;
  • Involvement in a minimum of 4 infrastructure projects in developing countries involving for 2 of them preparation studies (feasibility studies, detailed design, tender documentation) and for 2 of them implementation support (technical assistance to the asset owner) in two or more of the Project targeted sectors, in the past 15 years;
  • Proven experience in working with EU, EIB, and/or other IFI's (e.g. AfDB, WB, AFD, KfW, etc.) on similar assignments.
